Using the New X4 Poseidon for Materials Science Research

The new X4 POSEIDON™ modular micro-CT system provides faster scanning, higher resolution, and exceptional flexibility for any materials science lab. From additive manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and energy storage to composites, food science, and electronics, the new modular system offers researchers the perfect balance between resolution, scan speed, and Field-of-View.  The X4’s interchangeable components and flexible configurations support evolving research needs.

The X4’s modular system offers continuously variable magnification and a dual detector setup, allowing researchers to adjust positions of both the sample and detector. The system has two optional X-ray sources with spot sizes as small as 2 µm and can be configured with a versatile flat-panel detector, a scientific-grade CMOS detector, or both.

Following are some examples of materials science applications with the X4 Poseidon:

Pharmaceutical

The internal inspection of hard-shelled capsule pharmaceuticals can allow the imaging of individual granules and the visualization of pores within the granules themselves is possible. Micro-CT is used in the pharmaceutical industry for quality control as well as  research and development.
