Mice on a NASA mission being studied by the InAlyzer2 DEXA
On March 14, 2023, 24 mice are scheduled to launch on NASA’s SpaceX CRS-27 in a NASA-funded research project headed by Mary Bouxsein, PhD. A
InAlyzer2 DEXA Systems use dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA or DXA) to measure bone mineral density and body composition in laboratory animals. This simple, quick, and noninvasive technology allows researchers to perform multiple measurements over the lifetime of a lab animal in the investigation of substances that affect genetics, cell physiology, bone, and soft tissue.
Measure bone mineral density, bone mineral content, & body composition
