2001 Solid State Freezer
For sectioning work ithat requires cooling a specimen below room temperature, the Bright Solid State Freezer provides specimen cooling from ambient to -13°F (-25°C) or lower, depending on conditions. It consists of a contol unit and a Peltier device cooling stage. It is primarily designed to use with the 8000 Sledge Micrtomore but can also be used with other rotary and sledge microtomes.
The Solid State Freezer fits to the microtome in place of the normal specimen holder. It has a water inlet, a water outlet and an electrical connection to the control unit, which provides temperature control. The control unit also has a built in safety device, which detects low water flow. After sectioning, the specimen is quick and easy to remove.
Features
Optional chiller – The Solid State Freezer requires a flow of coolant to dissipate the heat in the peltier head. It has been shown that recirculating chillers are greatly more efficient and cost effective than tap water; and of course offer sustainable benefits of reducing water waste.
