The
X-Ray Eye is a simple high efficiency x-ray sensitive video
camera for alignment and set up purposes. It can handle direct beams
from 2kW tubes, yet still has enough sensitivity to locate such beams
after eight reflections from silicon 004 with CuKa radiation. Independent
tests at the University of Warwick show more than an order of magnitude
reduction in the time taken to set up multiple reflection experiments
compared to when a conventional scintillation counter is used. The real time 2D display of the beam, allowing its profile and position to be clearly seen on an ordinary video monitor, make optimizing set-up and experimental parameters easy. An automatic gain control (AGC) optimizes the appearance of the image on the monitor screen. No longer do you need to interpret sets of count rate measurements to analyze your x-ray beams, now you can see them! An optional variable gain configuration is available for increased flexibility. A free-standing control unit, operating from 110V/60Hz power, provides independent gain control on both the video signal and the image intensifier. The camera can then be fine-tuned for a wide range of flux conditions. The X-Ray Eye has been designed to work down to levels far below that where a direct fluorescent screen can be used, and incorporates a special image intensifier in order to achieve this sensitivity. Designed to meet the budgets available for such tools, the X-Ray Eye offers surprising performance at an affordable cost, the outlay soon being recovered by the immense man-hour saving it makes possible. And of course, it's the unproductive man-hours that the X-Ray Eye eliminates; now your time in the x-ray lab can be spent taking data, not in frustrating, slow adjustments. The X-Ray Eye is also invaluable for the alignment of experiments at synchrotron radiation facilities where there is only remote access to the beam. |

| X-Ray Eye 2i is a high resolution X-Ray imaging camera designed specifically for low flux applications where spatial resolution is the critical parameter. The resolution is nominally
15 microns, with an input format of nominally 11mm diagonal. The
camera is based on a ultra-high resolution — in excess of 65
line pairs per mm — image intensifier which has a high resolution
scintillator of gadolinium oxysulphide deposited directly on the input
surface which converts the X-ray quanta into visible light. The needle-sharp
resolution and maximized MTF of the scintillator is preserved. |
