SkyScan 1178 Ultra-fast Micro-CT System
High Throughput In-Vivo & In-Vitro Scanning of Small Specimens

The SkyScan 1178 is an ultra-fast micro-CT system for high throughput in-vivo and in-vitro scanning of small laboratory animals, and for material science / process control applications. The X-ray scanner contains two source-detector pairs on the rotational gantry, allowing objects to remain stationary during scanning. Up to 4 dual-processor computers on a local network can reconstruct full 3d-volume directly during acquisition. The typical scanning+reconstruction cycle for 512x512x512 pixels cube with 94um pixel size is 53 seconds. The instrument is supplied with full physiological monitoring for in-vivo small animal scanning, including color real-time imaging of the animal during investigation and gating for breathing, heart beat and monitoring / control of body temperature.

The scanner can operate fully automatically from a button on the front panel.
